Internet Marketing Sales: How to Use the “So That” Factor
Posted by admin in Internet Marketing on 07-02-2009
Internet marketing sales are always a concern for us who are trying to make money on the Internet. As a marketer, we must study and learn what our customer’s needs are. Especially is this the case in the recessionary times that we find ourselves. It is more imperative that we comprehend the “so that” factor that drives our customer’s buying trends. What can we do and better, what must we do to make the most efficient use of this factor? Understanding this factor will help us understand why people purchase a product and it will help us be successful with our product promotions.
It does not really matter what you are selling, you must remember that it is not the features of your product that persuade people to buy. It is the benefits that the product bringsthem, such as how it solves a problem they have or what advantage they will have if they use it. If you do not believe this, think back on the purchases you have made.
Before we consider the so that factor, lets take a look at a list of why people make a purchase. (This list is not all inclusive.):
- To make or save money
- To save time or resolve a probem
- To reduce work or effort
- To have fun
Notice that people purchase by using the “so that” factor whether they do so on purpose or subconsciously.
For instance:
- A person does not buy a time-saving device just to save time. They buy the device so that they can have time to do something more desirable or more beneficial to them in some way.
- A person does not buy aspirin because they have a headache. They buy the aspirin so that they can get rid of the headache.
- Most people do not want more money just to have the money, they want more money so that they can buy something else they would love to have!
When we realize that there is emotion (the so that factor) attached to buying, we will design our product or service promotion using this factor. If we can tap into these feelings our chances of making internet marketing sales skyrockets.
The recession does not have to affect our sales as long as we keep doing what is right for our customer and use the so that factor.
