When we choose our Internet business, it is with the intent of making lots of money, gaining control over our time, and living our dreams. All of us who try to sell a product or service know that this is true and we try to take advantage of these feelings. In many cases, the copywriting is good and it hits every button to make us want to buy. I know, because I have been on the receiving end and I have purchased my share of products. In and of itself, this is not a bad thing. It is the way Internet business is conducted. However, is this the way you should purchase your Internet business; using your heart rather than your head? No it is not the right way if you want to ensure success.

You should take at least a few minutes if not longer to to do the following self-analysis before you select your Internet business.

1) Who are you doing this for?

The reason you need to ask this question is to ensure that you have the motivation which leads to staying power and success in your business. You see, making a success of your business is going to take a commitment of time, energy, and work. It might be several months (in spite of what the Marketers tell you) before you start to see the fruits (money) of your labor.

2) What do you want to achieve? What is your goal?

The reason for asking these questions is because if you do not truly know what it is that you want, it is almost guaranteed that you are not going to get it.  You must be able to close your eyes and picture in your mind, down to the finest detail, what your life would be like once you achieve success.

After you have decided on what you want to achieve, you must set your level of determination. Are you willing to make the sacrifices and put forth the effort to obtain your goal? It is not enough to say “Yes”. You must set realistic goals that are specific, measurable, and obtainable. Be honest in doing this and you will be successful.

3) Where do you decide to commit your dollars and time?

This is probably one of the hardest questions to answer. However, research is the key. There are countless ways and places to set up a home business on the Internet. What is most important here is to keep a level head and an open mind while doing your research to determine your chosen field.

Avoid the impulses to buy “Now”. Take your time and actually study what is being offered. It is possible that you might find the same product or service for less after you do your research on the Internet.

And yes, this is advise from someone who wants you to invest in his program. You see, I understand that what works for me might not work for you. I want you to be successful because the freedom that comes with an Internet business is like nothing you have ever experienced.

4)  When should you launch your business?

You would think that as soon as you purchased your Internet business you should launch it. However, I have never seen a program yet that you can launch immediately upon purchase. I know you are anxious to get started, but it will add to your success if you take a few minutes or more to understand how the business works.

Knowing when to launch your business is where many marketers fall short. Ensure that your business is completely ready to go. Test everything before your launch. Check your web pages for loading time, grammar and spelling. Do all the pages and links work properly? Test your newsletter. Does your auto-responder send the messages when they are supposed to go out? Are the messages formatted correctly? Do those links work? Is the payment and delivery system perfect?

When setting up your business try to keep your mindset as if you were the customer. Would you purchase this product or service? Would you subscribe to this newsletter? Is there value being offered? What makes this product or service stand out from the rest? Until you can answer these questions with conclusive statements, you are not ready to launch.

5)  Why are you launching this Internet business?

By this point in your analysis, you probably already have this answer. However, it is good to reflect yet once again on your actions to ensure that you have all that you need to be successful. If you can ensure that the reason for launching the business is based on providing a service or product that will enhance peoples life, you have done a good thing. You have gone a long way toward ensuring your success because there really is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.

In summary, if you will take the few minutes to ask the “right” questions and honestly analyze your answers, you will avoid the obstacles that befall many participants in the purchase of an Internet business. You will experience the happiness, freedom, and success that comes from owning your own Internet business and being your own boss.
